Being a witch at Halloween seems classic and it could be a fun theme party outfit at other times of the year as well. Whatever the reason, this ensemble will cast its spell with a purple dress sporting a jagged hem, witch hat, bell sleeves, sheer black overlay, eyeball medallion and eyeball hand accessory.

You may purchase a wig, your shoes, fishnet tights and beaded tip eyelashes separately in order to customize your look.

Witches, warlocks, and the odd sorceress or two, have been common in our folklore for thousands of years. People who could do things that others didn’t understand were often ostracized and even exiled or put to death. When people don’t understand something, they often vilify it. While there certainly are some evil or bad witches and warlocks, there’s probably far more people who are interested in those sorts of arts, that are good people all the same.

Ancient Greek mythology had the odd sorceress or two, and the male equivalent was a sorcerer. Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice character was an extremely popular animation, and he was of course portrayed by Mickey Mouse. Disney now has a  live-action movie out with Nicolas Cage portraying the sorcerer himself.

A sorceress has a little bit more mystique than a witch, perhaps. The things she uses to cast spells and foresee the future, are a little bit more out of the ordinary then the usual cauldron and cobwebs and spiders! There been a few famous witches in Shakespeare plays, such as Hamlet. Witches and warlocks and sorcerers and sorceresses have been a major part of our literature, worldwide. Many cultures feature people who can cast spells and help people get well.

If you want to hold a party this Halloween and be the hostess sorceress, then you can decorate your house with a cauldron or too, a bit of dry ice bubbling out of it, and a few stars and sparkly purple cut outs on your table and walls.
